Turn a cold shower into a positive message about responsibility. Today my daughter came home from work and decided she needed a nice, hot shower. Thirty minutes later, seriously, the task was done. But no one informed this writer, me, about it. Oh, and she decided to wash her sheets, which also made the hot water heater burp a few times. So when I stepped into the shower, presto! Nothing by ice. And it had been a long day. However, instead of turning this into a shouting match, I dried quickly, put on a robe, and took my daughter downstairs and explained to her how much water a hot heater holds. She stood there, shook her head up and down, and then said: “Dad, I’m sorry, but I’m never going to be a plumber.” And then she walked away. On the way up the stairs, she turned and replied, “I’m sorry I used all the hot water…but I won’t do it again. I love you.”
